music pill

mp3 player x pill
"The Vitamin is a tiny MP3 player that combines our hobbies of music, gadgets and prescription-strength home pharmaceuticals into one.

Measuring 2.7 inches long and about an inch in diameter, you pull the pill apart to unlock the controls, then twist forward and back to toggle tracks. We're a little confused how volume and 30 channels of FM radio fit into that control scheme, but we won't get too worked up on the technicalities. I mean, it's an MP3 player that looks like a pill. What else do you really need?

Despite the conceptual renderings and unique design, the Vitamin is actually entering production later this year—meaning that you'll be able to buy it from an unknown vendor for an unknown price some time in 2009. "

Too-Tight Pants Could Result in Nerve Problems SON

"Too-tight pants could result not only in unsightly muffin top and rippling fabric in the crotch area, but also in a nerve condition called meralgia paresthetica, now seen in increasing numbers among young fit women.

Coupled with stiletto heels, the pressure these jeans put on the femoral cutaneous nerve that runs through the thigh can cause tingling and burning through the leg.

They don't quantify how tight the pants would have to be to achieve this result, but the condition is normally seen in construction workers, pregnant women, and obese people (oh, the irony), not young gym bunnies. Meralgia paresthetica has become known as "tingly thigh syndrome." Explains sufferer Parmeeta Ghoman:

“It felt really strange — it felt like my leg had gone to sleep.”

Luckily the problem is easily remedied in young, fit ladies. All they have to do is wear looser pants and the tingling should subside with no permanent damage. “It is a pure sensory nerve — it doesn’t go to muscles or provide strength. Anything that is tight around there could potentially compress the nerve that goes there,” explains a doctor. Well, this does make the strongest case we've seen for jeggings. And pantslessness, for that matter. But more than those things, the rare pants that allow air between fabric and skin, which we will unflaggingly support."

Disturb Me by The Popcorn Makers

Disturb Me by The Popcorn Makers. A very cool "room screen protection"!
"'Disturb Me' is an interactive installation between human and his environment. It is to make perceptible the reciprocal links and often forgotten contact, that we maintain with our environment.
The projection depends on the sound emitted by the spectators and creates consequently, a transitory and colored environment. The projected forms are revealed when in contact with surfaces of the room.
The senses are awakened, the room becomes alive."

human teachers will soon be obsolete!

yikes! forget outsourcing to idea, robots are the new threat to the domestic job market!
the robot model Saya teaches a class!

"Saya, can express six basic emotions — surprise, fear, disgust, anger, happiness, sadness — because its rubber skin is being pulled from the back with motors and wiring around the eyes and the mouth."

"The robot SAYA, far right, appears in the lesson at the school in Tokyo's Chiyoda Ward on Thursday. (Photo Courtesy of the Chiyoda Ward Government)
Students at an elementary school in Tokyo recently received a lesson from an unusual visiting teacher -- a humanoid robot.

A total of 61 fifth-year students at Kudan elementary school in Tokyo's Chiyoda Ward took part in the special lesson by android SAYA on Thursday. The robot, designed by Tokyo University of Science professor Hiroshi Kobayashi, has a female appearance. It can move its neck and change its facial expressions, with a total of 30 moving parts, including its eyes and mouth, and can also speak. The robot's name comes from the Malay word for "I."

In the lesson, SAYA, operated by remote control, greeted the students and asked them, "Do you know what kind of robot I am?"

Students were surprised by the robot, saying it looked just like a human. Kobayashi said he hopes it will spur students' interest in science.

"I hope the robot can be used to continue lessons conveying the fun of science and technology," Kobayashi said."

in its previous incarnation Saya was receptionist but has since been promoted to teaching, here she is being super creepy!
