the audi shark concept
coming from a distant time the audi shark is pretty much a flying car that takes its inspiration from motorcycle design/airplane cockpit
The two-seater flying sportscar is inspired by the world of motorclycles and airplanes and offers its passengers "strong sensations and high levels of safety."
The streamlined design of the exterior offers a visual reference to the car's name and - in combination with the rear lower spoiler - gives the vehicle an "underwater" appearance.
Both the headlights and the tail lights are made by transparent tubes which integrate LED units. The interior features sporty seats integrated in the cockpit structure.

"City animal shelter announces plan to do free spay and neuter
The Associated Press
NEW YORK - New Yorkers strapped for cash are getting a little help from their city to keep their pets healthy.
A city-funded animal shelter announced a deal Tuesday that will let low-income residents get their pets spayed and neutered for free.
The Animal Care & Control Center is leasing space to the nonprofit Toby Project for $1 a year.
The project will use a mobile clinic to help spay and neuter pets in communities prone to animal overpopulation."

the fish with a see thru head
Macropinna microstoma
"The common name for the fish is "barreleyes." Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute investigators recently figured out why this species has such an unusual head. Its eyes can actually rotate within its "skull," so the transparency allows the wary swimmer to keep a literal eye on happenings above it, as well as to the sides and directly in front.
Using video cameras, MBARI researchers Bruce Robison and Kim Reisenbichler revealed the fish's eye movements. When remotely operated vehicles approached the fish, its eyes glowed a vivid green shade in the bright lights of the ROVs. Usually the fish were just hanging out motionless under the deep waters offshore California's central coast."

apparently this otter loves to videotape
"SANTA CRUZ -- Wildlife photographer Enrique Aguirre makes a point of visiting the Monterey Bay once a month to capture images of herons, seals and sea otters.
But on Feb. 3, the San Francisco-based freelancer found himself on the other end of the lens -- with an otter at the viewfinder.
Aguirre was on Capt. Yohn Gideon's Elkhorn Slough Safari boat with several other professional photographers when the group spotted an otter in the distance. Gideon steered closer as Aguirre framed the shot. Then, Aguirre noticed something odd.
"I was like, did I actually see an otter with a video camera or was I hallucinating?" he said.
The screen on Aguirre's digital camera soon confirmed what he'd seen: an otter floating on its back, video camera grasped in its paws, lens aimed at the boat of excited photographers. The humans had a bad angle, but Aguirre managed to snap a single clear shot before the otter dived, video camera in tow.
"He's the only one who got the photo," Gideon said.
Judging by the rust and seaweed adorning the camera, the otter probably wasn't getting much good footage. But Aguirre, who has photographed animals all over the world for more than a decade, said the otter aiming a camcorder was the "craziest" thing he's seen an animal do in the wild.
The otter never resurfaced, leaving the photographers to speculate on the make and model of the animal's gear. Aguirre suspects that the camera was dropped by a kayaking tourist and then picked up by the curious creature.
"I know I can go down there another million times and I will never see another otter with a video camera," Aguirre said. "I think I have more chance of a penguin coming up to me and actually speaking English."

mad burgers spilt in salt lake
i happen to really love a good burger.
"The man's truck was carrying thousands of pounds of hamburger patties. The load was tossed all across I-15. Authorities quickly shut down several lanes between 600 North and 2600 North. Northbound traffic was completely closed, southbound traffic trickled through on lane until about 6:45 A.M. when the southbound lanes reopened."
